Cougar Beach Volleyball Wraps Up Inaugural 2021 Campaign

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team fell 3-1 to Mesa Community College in the Cougars' season finale on Friday, May 14 at Kiwanis Park in Tempe, Ariz. Mikaila Williams and Alyssa McDowell won their duel on the second court, winning in three sets (18-21, 23-21, 15-8) to finish the year with a 3-2 overall record as a tandem. 

On the top court, Marlayna Stapleton and Mckenna Androsky fell in three sets: 21-15, 17-21, 13-15. The duo went 4-1 on the year to lead the squad. 

In the third match, Mackenzie Cumbie and Madison Davis fell in straight sets: 21-12 and 21-19. Finally, in the fourth match, Gracie Henderson and Lizzie Hall fell in straight sets: 21-9 and 21-17. 

The Cougars finished their first season on the sand with a 1-3-1 overall record. They defeated Trinidad State JC on April 30 for their first dual victory in program history.
