SMCC Beach Volleyball Posts Win over Ottawa University

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team (3-10) lost 5-0 to the Ottawa University (AZ) "A" Team but posted a 3-2 victory over the Spirit "B" Team in a pair of matches at Kiwanis Park in Tempe, Ariz. The Cougars scored victories at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 pairs in the second match to post their third win of the season.
SMCC's No. 1 pairs duo of Mckenna Androsky and Kristine Garcia improved to 5-7 on the season with a straight-set victory (21-16, 21-13) against the Spirit B team's top pair. Andorksy and Garcia have played exclusively as the Cougars' No. 1 pairs this season.
The Cougars' No. 3 pairs, Nikole Lunsford and Madison Cadden, also won in straight sets in the second match. They improved to 4-6 overall and 1-1 as the No. 3 duo.
Finally, Lauren Castro and Leilani Clark teamed up as the No. 5 pairs to win 20-22, 21-19 and 15-11 to improve to 2-5 on the year.
In the first match, the No. 2 pairs of Sienna Cumbie and Emily Wilson went to a decisive third set before falling to the OUAZ tandem.
