The SMCC women's basketball team lost 63-50 to Glendale CC on Feb. 1. Sophomore Myla Lee scored a season-high 23 points and sophomore Genesis Adams added 18 points and 16 rebounds, but the Gauchos used some timely shooting to defeat the Cougars.
SMCC trailed 19-16 at the end of the first quarter and 32-25 at halftime. The Cougars got to within five midway through the third before GCC closed the frame on a run and took a high-scoring fourth to claim the win.
Lee finished with new season high for the second-straight game, eclipsing the 20 points she scored at Central Arizona. She added five rebounds, three steals and two assists. Lee is averaging 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game for the season.
Adams was 8-of-13 from the field and five of her rebounds came on the offensive glass. She added two steals and a block and is averaging 14.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game for the season.
Freshman Kayla Pettet posted four points and eight rebounds for SMCC against the Gauchos.
