The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team fell 65-47 to Chandler-Gilbert CC on Feb. 17 and 77-35 to Mesa CC on Feb. 21 in a pair of ACCAC contests. Sophomore Miriam Traore posted a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds against the Coyotes, and the team celebrated its three sophomores (Hailey Connor, Kayla Pettet, Traore) on Sophomore Night against the Thunderbirds.

The Cougars fell to the Coyotes in a road contest on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Traore was 7 of 17 from the field and led all players with 15 boards. The double-double was her first of the season, and the 15 rebounds, five of which were offensive, set a new season high.
Connor was second on the team with 13 points, and she led the Cougars with four assists and steals in 35 minutes.
Freshman Mimi Miller posted seven points and eight rebounds in 34 minutes, and freshman Chloe Wiley added four rebounds and three steals.

The Thunderbirds defeated the Cougars at the SMCC Gym on Sophomore Night on Feb. 21.
Freshman Janae Byrd came off the bench to lead the Cougars with nine points. She also had four assists, two steals, one block, and one rebound in 27 minutes.
Wiley was second on the squad with seven points and added three rebounds and a steal in 27 minutes.
Traore posted eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 23 minutes, and Collier posted four points, seven rebounds, and two steals in 28 minutes off the bench.
