SMCC Women's Basketball Falls to Williston State College

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball (5-9) lost 102-48 to Williston State College in a non-conference home contest on Friday, Dec. 20. Sophomore Valery Velazquez led SMCC with a season-high 17 points and added five rebounds and three steals for the Cougars.
SMCC Women's Basketball Defeats Community Christian College

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team defeated Community Christian 116-20 in a non-conference contest at the SMCC Gym on Dec. 13. Freshman Destiny Dixon scored a season-high 28 points, and five other Cougars finished in double-figures as SMCC defeated the Saints.
SMCC Women's Basketball Falls at Scottsdale CC

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team (3-8, 0-4 ACCAC) lost 75-44 to Scottsdale CC in an ACCAC road game on Dec. 11. Freshman guard Destiny Dixon led SMCC with 12 points and added three steals while sophomore guard Leslie Aguirre totaled eight points, four rebounds, five steals, and two assists. However, the Artichokes took a 35-17 halftime lead and posted a 40-27 victory in the second half to secure the victory.
Cougar Women's Basketball Falls at Pima CC

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team (3-7, 0-3 ACCAC) lost 90-27 in an ACCAC game at Pima CC on Dec. 4. Sophomore Leslie Aguirre led SMCC with 11 points and sophomore Mualyia Green grabbed 10 rebounds, but the Aztecs led early and pulled away in the second half for the win.
SMCC Women's Hoops Falls to Phoenix College

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team (3-6, 0-2 ACCAC) lost 86-32 to Phoenix College in an ACCAC road contest on Nov. 23 at the SMCC Gym. Sophomore Leslie Aguirre had eight points, four rebounds, and four assists and freshman Destiny Dixon had eight points and three rebounds for the Cougars.
SMCC Women's Basketball Falls to Glendale CC in ACCAC Opener

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team (3-5, 0-1 ACCAC) fell 56-46 to Glendale CC in both teams' conference opener on Nov. 20 at the SMCC Gym. Sophomore Rahimeh Salaam led SMCC with 16 points and freshman Destiny Dixon added 10 points for the Cougars in the defeat.
SMCC Women's Basketball Splits with GCU Club Team, Southern Nevada
November 18, 2024
The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team (3-4) defeated the GCU Club Team 64-54 on Nov. 15 and lost 127-83 to the College of Southern Nevada in a pair of non-conference contests. Sophomore Leslie Aguirre led the Cougars with 19 points and seven assists, and sophomore Nei'Shae Clegg posted 10 points and 16 rebounds in the win over the Antelopes. The next day, Aguirre scored a season-high 23 and freshman Destiny Dixon finished with 20 points in a loss to the Coyotes.
SMCC Women's Hoops Falls to Southern Nevada, Valley Prep

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team (2-3) lost 91-45 to the College of Southern Nevada on Nov. 9 and 88-68 to Valley Prep on Nov. 12 in a pair of non-conference home games at the SMCC Gym. Sophomore Auak Jok led SMCC with 12 points, and sophomore Leslie Aguirre added 11 against the Coyotes. Three days later, sophomore Mualyia Green posted a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds, sophomore Destiny Dixon scored 16, and Aguirre added 15 in the loss to Valley Prep.
SMCC Women's Basketball Finishes 2-1 on Opening Weekend
November 04, 2024
The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team (2-1) posted a pair of victories at the Phoenix College Juco/JV Invitational from Nov. 1-3 at Phoenix College. On Nov. 1, the Cougars defeated the Arizona Christian University JV team 69-39 as Destiny Dixon led SMCC with 25 points. The next day, SMCC posted a 70-52 victory over the Park University-Gilbert JV Team 70-52 as Rahimeh Salaam and Valery Velazquez led the Cougars with 16 points. Finally, SMCC fell 67-62 to the Grand Canyon University Club Team on Nov. 3 despite 18 points from Salaam.
