SMCC Women's Golf Squares Off with Mesa CC in Duel

The South Mountain Community College women's golf team took on Mesa CC in The 2021 Desert Duel on October 5-6 at Dobson Ranch Golf Course. Freshman Kylie Rehberger posted a 16-shot improvement in her second round and led the Cougars with a seventh-place finish at the event. 

Rehberger posted a birdie and 12 pars in her second round of the event, finishing at four-over 76. The performance was the second-best round of the day. She opened with a 16-over 92 over the first 18 holes and finished seventh at 24-over, 168. 

Freshman Tabitha Bitter placed eighth overall and second on the squad at 35-over, 179. She posted an opening-round score of 90 and then posted a second-round 89 that included six pars. 

Freshman Trixie Sabulao finished on Bitter's heels at 36-over, 180 to take ninth place. She posted two rounds of 90 and recorded three pars. 

Sophomore Jenna Lee finished 10th at 41-over, 185, and recoded rounds of 95 and 90. Freshman Alyssa Miner placed 11th at 46-over, 190, and sophomore Emma Fisher was 12th at 47-over, 191. Freshman Gina Benoche took 13th at 52-over 196. 

As a team, SMCC finished at 136-over, 712 for the two days. The Cougars posted a 22-shot improvement in their second round, spearheaded by Rehberger's strong showing.
