Trio of Cougar Women's Golfers Collect All-ACCAC Honors

The South Mountain Community College women's golf team placed third at the South Mountain Invite at +88 (664) on Mar. 29-30 at Aguila Golf Club in Laveen Village, Ariz. Individually, sophomore Kylie Rehberger placed second, freshman Angelina Borg-Malec tied for fourth and freshman Raquel Pargas placed 16th to earn 2023 All-ACCAC honors. 

Rehberger earned First Team All-ACCAC honors for the second-straight year and finished at +5 (149) with rounds of 68 and 81. Borg-Malec also earned First Team honors after tying for fourth at +16 (160) with identical rounds of 80. 

Pargas recorded a nine-shot improvement in her second round to finish 16th at +31 (175) with scores of 92 and 83. Freshman Mia Hill was 18th at +38 (182) with scores of 89 and 93, and sophomore Trixie Sabulao was 20th at +41 (185) with rounds of 94 and 91.

As a team, SMCC opened with a 329 and then posted a 335 in its second round. The Cougars finished 27 strokes behind first-place Mesa CC and 19 behind second-place Pima CC. 

The Cougars will now set their sights on Southwest District Championships April 17-19 at Hillcrest Golf Course in Sun City West, Ariz.
