The South Mountain Community College women's soccer team lost 12-0 at Scottsdale CC on Oct. 1 and defeated Glendale CC 3-2 on Oct. 4 in a pair of ACCAC matches.

Freshman Kayla Garcia scored a pair of goals, including the game-winning strike in the 89th minute, as the Cougars defeated the Gauchos for the second time in 2022. Freshman Alicia Nicholson opened the scoring 42 seconds after the start of the contest with an un assisted goal.
Garcia gave SMCC a 2-1 advantage in the 49th minute off a Nicholson assist in the 49th minute. Glendale tied the match at 2-2 in the 86th minute before Garcia struck for the winning goal.
Sophomore Jordan Whitaker had four saves in goal to post the victory.
