SMCC men's golf sophomore Daniel Thompson carded a tournament-best five-under 67 in the second round of the South Mountain Classic to win Individual Medalist honors by one stroke. Thompson finished at three-under 141 over the 36 holes to edge Glendale CC's Jayden McCloud by one stroke at the Aguila Golf Desert Course on Sept. 19-20 in Laveen, Ariz. He moved up 10 spots on the leaderboard over the course of the second day after posting a two-over 74 in his first round.
