Forty-Three SMCC Student-Athletes Earn 2021-22 NJCAA All-Academic Honors
July 11, 2022
A total of 43 South Mountain Community College student-athletes earned 2021-22 NJCAA All-Academic honors for their work in the classroom. The SMCC women's golf team received NJCAA Academic Team of the Year honors after posting a cumulative 3.65 team GPA, and the Cougars had 10 student-athletes earn First Team awards after posting a perfect 4.0 GPA.
SMCC Beach Volleyball Splits Match-Ups with Mesa CC, GCU Club Team

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team fell 3-2 to Mesa CC on April 15 and defeated the GCU Club Team 5-0 on April 16 in its final two matches of the 2022 spring season. Against the Thunderbirds, Nikole Lunsford and Madison Marcotte posted a straight-set victory as the No. 4 pairs, and Leilani Clark and Lauren Castro won as the No. 5 pairs. In the season finale against the Antelopes, all five Cougar pairs were successful as the program celebrated its second season of competition.
Cougar Beach Volleyball Claims Match with Ottawa University (AZ)

The South Mountain Community College women's beach volleyball team lost 5-0 to the Ottawa University (AZ) "A" Team but defeated the OUAZ "B" Team 3-2 in a pair of matches at Scottsdale Ranch Park on April 13. In the second match, the Cougars posted wins in the top three pairs to post their fourth win of the season.

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team (3-10) lost 5-0 to the Ottawa University (AZ) "A" Team but posted a 3-2 victory over the Spirit "B" Team in a pair of matches at Kiwanis Park in Tempe, Ariz. The Cougars scored victories at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 pairs in the second match to post their third win of the season.
SMCC Beach Volleyball Defeats Mesa CC

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team posted a 3-2 victory over Mesa CC on Mar. 25 at Kiwanis Park in Tempe, Ariz. The Cougars posted victories at the No. 3 and 4 pairs and got a forfeit in the No.5 pairs to defeat the Thunderbirds for their second win of the season.

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team squared off with Ottawa University (AZ) in a pair of matches on Mar. 22 at Scottsdale Ranch Park in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Cougars fell 5-0 to the OUAZ A Team and battled to a 3-2 loss against the Spirit B Team.
Androsky and Garcia Post #1 Pairs Wins for SMCC Beach Volleyball

Mckenna Androsky and Kristine Garcia posted a straight-set victory as the No. 1 pairs, and Leilani Clark and Lauren Castro won in three sets as the No. 5 pairs as the South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team battled with Benedictine University-Mesa on Mar. 15 at Gene Autry Park in Mesa, Ariz. SMCC nearly pulled off its first win over a four-year university and also won an exhibition match against the Redhawks.

The South Mountain Community College women's beach volleyball team battled Wayne State College (NE) in a pair of matches at Kiwanis Park in Tempe, Ariz., on Mar. 7. The Cougars fell in both contests, but Emily Wilson and Sienna Cumbie won as the No. 3 pairs in their second match.

The South Mountain Community College women's beach volleyball team put together some impressive performances on Saturday, Feb. 26 in matches against Benedictine-Mesa and Arizona Christian. Mckenna Androsky and Kristine Garcia went 2-0 on the day on the No. 1 court, and Nikole Lunsford and and Madison Cadden posted a win over the Buccaneers in the No. 2 contest.
SMCC Beach Volleyball Falls to Park-Gilbert

The South Mountain Community College women's beach volleyball team (0-2) lost 5-0 to Park-Gilbert on Thursday, Feb. 18 at Gilbert Regional Park. Injuries on the fourth and fifth court forced the Cougars to forefit the contests, and the Buccaneers won in straight-sets on the other three courts.
SMCC Beach Volleyball Opens 2022 Campaign

The South Mountain Community College women's beach volleyball team (0-1) opened its 2022 season on Feb. 2 with a match against Park University-Gilbert at Gilbert Regional Park in Gilbert, Ariz. Sophomore Sienna Cumbie and freshman Emily Wilson posted a straight-set victory (21-14, 21-19) in their No. 3 match against the Buccaneers, but Park won the match 5-1.
