SMCC Beach Volleyball Defeats Mesa CC

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team posted a 3-2 victory over Mesa CC on Mar. 25 at Kiwanis Park in Tempe, Ariz. The Cougars posted victories at the No. 3 and 4 pairs and got a forfeit in the No.5 pairs to defeat the Thunderbirds for their second win of the season.
Sophomore Sienna Cumbie and freshman Emily Wilson won as the No. 3 pairs, taking a three-set victory. They improved to 5-3 on the season with the win.
Sophomore Claire Burford and freshman Madison Marcotte won in straight sets, 22-20 and 21-14, to post their first win of the year.
The Thunderbirds forfeited the No. 5 match to give SMCC the 3-2 victory.
Mckenna Androsky and Kristine Garcia lost in three sets as the No. 1 pairs, and sophomore Nikole Lunsford and freshman Madison Cadden fell in straight sets.
