Makael Rainbow Named Third Team All-ACCAC and Second Team All-Region I

South Mountain Community College men's basketball sophomore Makael Rainbow earned Third Team All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference and All-Region I Division II Second Team honors, the league office announced on Feb. 26. Rainbow averaged 15.1 points per game and concluded his Cougar career with a career-high 49 points in a win over Mesa Community College.

A 6-0 guard, Rainbow made 23 starts and shot 47.0 percent from the field for the year. He also averaged 2.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game in his final season as a Cougar. He finished with double-figures in scoring 21 times and had seven games of more than 20 points.

Rainbow had an outstanding run to end the season, averaging 31.8 points over his final four games. That included a tremendous performance on Sophomore Night when he finished with a season-high 49 points, shooting 18 field goals and four 3-pointers while adding seven steals.

During the season, Rainbow grabbed a season-high seven rebounds twice and dished out a season-high six assists in a win over Tohono O'odham Community College on Feb. 22.

He ranked 11th in the ACCAC in points per game, and his 49 steals were the eighth-most in the conference. His 170 field goals were the seventh-most among all ACCAC players.
