SMCC Men's Basketball Downs Glendale CC for Third-Straight Win

The South Mountain Community College men's basketball team defeated Glendale CC 83-58 in an ACCAC game on Feb. 1 at the SMCC Gym. Freshman Jaylen Wesley scored a team-high 16 points as six Cougars finished in double-figures, and SMCC extended its conference winning streak to three games. 

SMCC led 38-29 at halftime and handed the Gauchos a 45-29 defeat in the second half to record the 83-58 victory. The Cougars shot 52.3 percent (34-of-65) from the field, made seven 3-pointers, and recorded 33 rebounds, 17 assists and nine steals. 

Wesley was 6-of-10 from the field and added a 3-pointer, two rebounds, a steal and an assist in 26 minutes. Sophomore Abdi Odowaay knocked down four 3-pointers and dished out a team-high seven assists to finish with 14 points. 

Sophomore Darien Allen went 6-of-8 from the field to post 13 points. He added five rebounds, three assists and two steals in 27 minutes. Freshman Jimmy Causey Jr. was efficient in 14 minutes, finishing with 10 points and three rebounds. 

Sophomore Khabri Davis and freshman Aaron Johnson each finished in double-figures off the bench. Davis was 3-for-5 from the field and added a 3-pointer, four free throws, four rebounds and two assists, while Johnson had a team-high seven rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal in 14 minutes.
