Mark Eggleston Named South Mountain Community College Men’s Soccer Head Coach

Mark Eggleston has accepted the men's soccer head coach position at South Mountain Community College, SMCC athletic director Todd Eastin announced.  A longtime prep coach in Phoenix, Eggleston hopes to build a new tradition with the Cougars that promotes athletic and academic excellence.

"What excited me about this position was the chance to start a tradition and build something that makes student-athletes proud when they will look back at their time at SMCC," said Eggleston. "For 2020, our goals are to establish a foundation that we can build upon for years to come. This baseline includes the way we do things in training, film, on the pitch and the way we play and respect the game."

In addition to his duties at SMCC, Eggleston currently serves as the girl's soccer head coach at Williams Field High School in Gilbert, Ariz., and as a head coach in the Phoenix Rising organization.

Eggleston also spent two years as the girl's soccer head coach at Desert Mountain High School, five years as the head coach at Hamilton High School and 10 years as the head coach of the San Tan Legacy Soccer Club.

During his coaching career, Eggleston has been a part of four championship sides. He has mentored and developed several all-conference players and three All-Arizona student-athletes. For his work, Eggleston won the Region Coach of the Year award twice.

"Every player that I have coached over the past 23 years has played a part in me being where I am today," Eggleston said. "I cannot thank them enough for trusting me to coach them."

Eggleston received his USSF National D License in 2010, his NSCAA National Diploma in 2011 and his NSCAA Advanced National Diploma in 2015.
