Cougars Fall Twice to Phoenix College

The South Mountain Community College softball team (9-5, 2-2 ACCAC) lost an Arizona Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader at Phoenix College on Feb. 15. The Cougars lost 11-0 (5 innings) in the first game and 8-0 (5 innings) in the second contest. 

Game One Recap

The Bears scored three runs in the second and added eight runs in the third to post the win. 

Kayliana Sablan, Jaudrey Ah Quin and Carolina Olivas had base hits for the Cougars.

Rylie Atherton (3-3) took the loss for SMCC in the circle. She allowed eight hits and five earned runs in 2.2 innings of work. Christian Smith tossed the final 1.1 innings for SMCC and allowed one earned run and three hits. 

Game Two Recap

The Bears struck for three runs in the first and five in the second to post an 8-0, five-inning victory. 

Annalise Chavez had the Cougars' only hit of the contest. Mariah Martinez took the loss for SMCC, allowing nine hits and five earned runs in 4.0 innings of work .
