Bio

James Boyd joined the SMCC women's basketball staff as an assistant coach prior to the start of the 2021-22 season. 

A coaching veteran of more than 25 years at the high school, collegiate and AAU levels, Boyd most recently served as an assistant coach for the boy's basketball team at the American Leadership Academy in Gilbert. He also worked as an assistant coach on the women's side at Presentation College for two seasons and ACCAC rival Chandler-Gilbert CC for six seasons.

Boyd worked as the head coach for the boy's basketball at San Tan Foothills High School and Alchesay High School, and spent a season as the head coach of the women's basketball team at. Northland Pioneer CC. 

Boyd earned a Bachelor's of Science from NAU and a Master's of Education in Counseling from the University of Phoenix.
