Rehberger's Third-Place Finish Paces SMCC at South Mountain Classic

South Mountain Community College women's golf freshman Kylie Rehberger carded two rounds of 79 to finish third at the South Mountain Classic on Nov. 1-2 at Aguila Golf Course. Sophomore Tabitha Bitter and freshman Trixie Sabulao also finished in the top 10 for the Cougars. SMCC finished second at the event and posted an 11-shot improvement in the second round as a team.

Several Cougars posted notable improvements in their second round of action. Bitter finished at 34-over, 178 with rounds of 92 and 86 to take eighth, and Sabulao finished tied for ninth at 35-over, 179 after rounds of 92 and 87. 

Sophomore Jenna Lee placed 12th at 46-over, 190, and fellow sophomore Alyssa Miner was 50-over, 194 to take 13th after identical rounds of 97. Freshman Gina Benoche tied for 15th at 66-over, 210 and had a two-shot improvement in her second round. Freshman Aria Baker produced a 10-shot improvement in her second round and took 17th at 78-over. 

As a team, SMCC posted scores of 360 and 349 to finish behind Mesa CC and ahead of Pima CC.
