Cougar Volleyball Wraps Up Road Trip against Mesa CC, Arizona Western

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (4-13, 1-5 ACCAC) lost 3-1 to Mesa CC on Sept. 29 and 3-0 to Arizona Western on Oct. 1 in a pair of Arizona Community College Athletic Conferene road contests. 

Mesa CC Recap

The Cougars fell 25-22, 25-16, 21-25 and 25-11 in their second match against the Thunderbirds in five days. SMCC hit .096 for the match, collecitng 45 kills and 30 errors on 156 attacks. 

Freshman Maleah Reynolds led the Cougars with 14 kills as she hit .244 on 41 attacks. She added 11 digs, a solo block and a service ace to post her third double-double of the year. 

Freshman Leilani Clark added 13 kills on 42 attacks, and added six digs and three block assists. Sophomore Gracie Henderson had 21 assists and freshman Maddie Marcotte had 20 helpers. Henderson posted 12 digs and a service ace, while Marcotte finished with 15 digs.

Freshman Jalyssa Rogers and sophomore Mckenna Androsky each had six kills in defeat. 

Arizona Western Recap

The Cougars fell 25-18, 25-13 and 25-20 to the Matadors in Yuma. SMCC hit .036 over the three sets, finishing with 23 kills and 20 errors in 84 attacks. 

Rogers led the squad with six kills, hitting .500 on 12 attacks. Freshman Madison Cadden had five kills, five digs and two block assists. 

Sophomore Sienna Cumbie led the team with six digs and added two servce aces. Sophomore Nikole Lunsford also had five digs, while Marcotte led the team with nine assists. Henderson finished with eight assists and four digs.
