SMCC Volleyball Announces Four-Year Transfers

The South Mountain Community College volleyball programs announced its four-year transfers for the upcoming 2023-24 academic year. Emily Wilson (University of St. Katherine), Kristine Garcia (Colorado Mesa University), and Andy Sanchez (Concordia University-Wisconsin) will continue their intercollegiate careers elsewhere but will be Cougars forever.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Announces Summer Camps

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team will host a pair of two-day all skills summer camps at the SMCC Gym on June 22-23 and July 13-14 for campers grades 6-12. The camps are open to any and all interested parties with the morning session (9 a.m.-Noon) being for campers grade 6-8 and the afternoon session (2 p.m.-5 p.m.) is for campers in grades 9-12.
SMCC Splits with Mesa CC, Glendale CC to Clinch Playoff Berth

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team defeated Mesa CC 3-0 on October 26 and lost 3-1 to Glendale CC on October 28 in a pair of ACCAC matches at the SMCC Gym. Against the Thunderbirds, sophomore Madison Cadden led the Cougars with 16 kills, and freshman Rylee Pitts added 14 as SMCC clinched a postseason bid with the victory. Two days later, Cadden paced SMCC with a match-high 22 kills, but the Gauchos rallied from an opening-set loss to take the win.
Madison Cadden Earns Second Team All-ACCAC and All-Region I Division II Team Honors

Sophomore Madison Cadden earned Second Team All-ACCAC honors and received a place on the All-Region I Division II Team after an outstanding 2022 regular season for the SMCC women's volleyball team. An outside hitter from Gilbert, Ariz., Cadden led the ACCAC with 327 kills, finished second in kills/set (3.63) and third in hitting percentage (.293) as the Cougars qualified for the upcoming Region I Division II Tournament.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Clashes with Scottsdale CC, Chandler-Gilbert CC

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team lost 3-0 to Scottsdale CC on October 19 and 3-0 to Chandler-Gilbert on October 21 in a pair of Arizona Community College Athletic Conference road matches. Against the Artichokes, sophomore Madison Cadden led SMCC with 13 kills and a .458 hitting percentage, and three Cougars registered double-digit digs. In the contest with the Coyotes, freshman Rylee Pitts led SMCC with 11 kills, and Cadden chipped in nine in defeat.
Cougar Women's Volleyball Battles with Arizona Western

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team lost 3-0 to Arizona Western on Oct. 12 in an Arizona Community College Athletic Conference home match. Sophomore Madison Cadden led SMCC with 12 kills and freshman Rylee Pitts added nine against the Matadors.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Sweeps Pima CC, Phoenix College

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (7-14, 4-6 ACCAC) defeated Pima CC and Phoenix College 3-0 in a pair of Arizona Community College Athletic Conference contests on Oct. 5 and 7, respectively. Against the Aztecs, sophomore Madison Cadden and freshman Rylee Pitts led the Cougars with 12 kills, and Jalyssa Rogers added eight with a .571 hitting percentage. Two days later, SMCC hit a season-high .385 as a team, Cadden led the squad with 15 kills, and Rogers added nine with a blistering .600 hitting percentage.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Falls 3-1 at Glendale CC

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (5-14, 2-6 ACCAC) lost 3-1 at Glendale CC in an Arizona Community College Athletic Conference contest on Sept. 28. Sophomore Madison Cadden led SMCC with 18 kills, freshman Rylee Pitts added a season-high 17 kills and sophomore Emily Wilson posted 11 kills and 15 digs for her fourth double-double of the year, but the Gauchos won the third and fourth set to clinch the victory: 25-18, 20-25, 25-19, 25-20.
Cougar Women's Volleyball Hangs On to Defeat Park-Gilbert

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (5-13) defeated Park-Gilbert 3-2 in a non-conference match at the SMCC Gym on Monday, Sept. 26. SMCC won the first two sets before the Buccaneers rallied to win the third and fourth. Still, the Cougars rallied in the fifth set to post their second win in their last three contests.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Splits with Mesa CC, Pima CC

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (4-13, 2-5 ACCAC) defeated Mesa CC 3-1 on Sept. 21 and fell 3-1 at Pima CC on Sept. 23 in a pair of Arizona Community College Athletic Conference contests last week. Sophomore Madison Cadden led the Cougars with 16 kills, and freshman Rylee Pitts added a season-high 10 kills as the Cougars overcame a first-set loss to defeat the Thunderbirds. Two days later, Cadden (12 kills) and Pitts (10 kills) led the offensive attack as the Cougars won the opening frame against the Aztecs but lost the next three.
Cougar Women's Volleyball Squares off With Chandler-Gilbert CC

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (3-12, 1-4 ACCAC) lost 3-0 to Chandler-Gilbert CC in an ACCAC home match on Sept. 16. Sophomore Madison Cadden led SMCC with six kills on 29 attacks and added three digs. Sophomore Emily Wilson posted five kills, eight digs, a service ace and a block assist, and fellow sophomore Jalyssa Rogers added four kills and four solo blocks. Freshman Delicea McAuley had nine assists and 11 digs, and sophomore Gracie Henderson added eight assists and two digs. Sophomore Imani Cannon led SMCC with 17 digs and added two assists.
SMCC Women's Volleyball Squares off With Utah State-Eastern and Eastern Arizona

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (3-11) lost 3-0 to Utah State-Eastern in Henderson, Nev., at the Coyote Classic on Sept. 10. The Cougars then dropped a 3-0 decision at Eastern Arizona in an Arizona Community College Athletic Conference match on Sept. 14.
Cougars Fall to Yavapai College

The South Mountain Community College (3-8, 1-2 ACCAC) lost 3-0 to Yavapai College in an Arizona Community College Athletic Conference contest on Sept. 7. Madison Cadden led the Cougars with nine kills and Emily Wilson added six, but the Roughriders swept the contest 25-17, 25-19 and 25-10.

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (3-7, 1-1 ACCAC) lost 3-0 to Scottsdale CC on Friday, Sept. 2, in an Arizona Community College Athletic Conference match at SMCC. Sophomore Madison Cadden led the Cougars with seven kills, but the Artichokes posted a team-hitting percentage of .344 in 90 swings to win in three sets: 25-19, 25-15 and 25-12.
Cougars Sweeps Phoenix College to Open 2022 ACCAC Campaign

The South Mountain Community College women’s volleyball team swept Phoenix College in its 2022 ACCAC opener on Wednesday, Aug. 31. The Cougars posted their first sweep of the season in dispatching the Bears 25-17, 25-20 and 25-22. SMCC has won three of its last five matches heading into tonight’s contest.

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (2-6) lost 3-0 to Eastern Arizona College in a non-conference contest in Thatcher, Ariz. Madison Cadden had eight kills and Rylee Pitts added seven kills, but the Cougars could not hold off the Gila Monsters.
