SMCC Women's Volleyball Clashes with Scottsdale CC, Chandler-Gilbert CC

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team lost 3-0 to Scottsdale CC on October 19 and 3-0 to Chandler-Gilbert on October 21 in a pair of Arizona Community College Athletic Conference road matches. Against the Artichokes, sophomore Madison Cadden led SMCC with 13 kills and a .458 hitting percentage, and three Cougars registered double-digit digs. In the contest with the Coyotes, freshman Rylee Pitts led SMCC with 11 kills, and Cadden chipped in nine in defeat. 

Scottsdale CC Recap

The Cougars fell in three sets to the Artichokes: 25-11, 25-17, 25-12. SMCC totaled 22 kills in 100 attacks, 56 digs and three aces over the three sets. 

Cadden hit .458 with 13 kills in 24 swings with just errors and added three aces and a dig. Sophomore Emily Wilson had four kills and 12 digs, sophomore Imani Cannon posted 17 digs and an assist, and Rylee Wengert had 11 digs and an assist.

Sophomore Jalyssa Rogers added three kills, four digs and two solo blocks, and freshman Delicea McAuley led SMCC with 22 digs to go with nine digs.  

Chandler-Gilbert CC Recap

The Cougars fell in three sets to the Coyotes in a road match: 25-19, 25-22, and 25-14. SMCC finished with 28 kills and assists, seven service aces, 40 digs and four block assists. 

Pitts led the Cougars with 11 kills and hit .381 in 21 swings, and Cadden finished with nine kills, seven digs and two aces. Freshman Brynley Lynch had three kills and an ace, and Wilson added three kills and seven digs. 

McAuley led the Cougars with 27 assists and added six digs, and Cannon paced the squad with 10 digs and chipped in two aces and an assist. Wengert added nine digs and Rogers had a pair of block assists.
