SMCC Beach Volleyball Defeats Trinidad State

The South Mountain Community College beach volleyball team posted a 5-0 victory over Trinidad State (CO) and narrowly fell 3-2 to Park-Gilbert in a pair of matches on Mar. 20. All five Cougar pairs posted straight-set wins over the Trojans, while freshmen Nichole Gary and Rylee Pitts and Emee Fellens and Shandi Allison posted wins over the Buccaneers. 

Amaya Evans and Kristine Garcia posted their fourth win of the year on the No. 1 court, defeating the Trojans 21-12 and 21-12. Emily Wilson and Daisy Motes won for the fifth time as the No. 2 pairs with a 21-7, 21-11 victory. Shayna Simmers and Allison won their second match this year as a duo with a 21-10, 21-9 victory as the fifth pair. 

Against Park-Gilbert, Pitts and Gary won in straight sets on the third court (21-14, 21-18) to improve to 8-7 on the season.  Fellens and Allison won in three sets (21-18, 19-21, 15-10) are 3-2 on the year after their win as the No.5 pairs.
