SMCC Men's Hoops Falls at Scottsdale CC

The South Mountain Community College men's basketball team lost 80-73 at Scottsdale Community College in an Arizona Community College Athletic Conference contest on Jan. 29, 2022. Sophomore Demonte Demore scored a team-high 20 points and freshman Darien Allen added 15, but the Cougars could not overcome a seven-point halftime deficit. 

SMCC trailed 44-37 at halftime and the teams tied in the second half at 36-36. The Cougars shot 47.6 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free-throw line. They grabbed 31 rebounds, dished out 21 assists and had 14 steals in defeat. 

Demore finished 9-of-14 from the field, and he added four rebounds, four assists, and five steals in 24 minutes. Allen was 7-of-12 from the field with seven rebounds, two assists, three steals and three blocks in 28 minutes. 

Isaiah Camon added eight points, three rebounds and four assists in 22 minutes off the bench. Elijah Melendez finished with seven points, and Davion Stringer and Christian Allen had six points.
