SMCC Men's Golf Wins Aguila Classic, Quesada and Clark Tie for Individual Medalist

The South Mountain Community College men's golf team won the Aguila Classic at Aguila Golf Course on Sept. 12-13 with a score of -4 (572) over the two days of competition. In fact, two Cougar teams competed in the event, and the teams finished first and second, with the other group posting a +1 (577). Individually, sophomore Brady Clark and freshman Gael Quesada tied for individual medalist honors at -7 (137).

The SMCC 1 Team consisted of Quesada, freshman Dillon Dean, sophomore Eric Klutke, freshman Dylan Kohner, and freshman Nicklaus Ummel. The SMCC Team 2 consisted of Clark, sophomore Luke Greig, sophomore Ryan Blair, sophomore Cole Finch, and freshman Tyler Walker

Both Quesada and Clark carded rounds of 68 and 69 to tie for the event title, and Dean finished one stroke off the pace at -6 (138) with scores of 73 and 65. 

Freshman Graysen Collins competed individually and finished fourth at -5 (139) with rounds of 71 and 68. 

Klutke posted a top-10 finish at +1 (145) with rounds of 75 and 70, Kohner finished at +8 (152) with scores of 79 and 73, and Ummel was +12 (156) with rounds of 79 and 77. 

On Team 2, Greig tied with Klutke to finish at +1 (145) with scores of 77 and 68. Finch, a 2023 Honorable Mention All-American, carded rounds of 74 and 73 to finish at +3 (147), and Blair was right on his heels at +4 (148) with scores of 75 and 73. Walker rounded out the group at +18 (162) with scores of 85 and 77.
