SMCC Men's Soccer Falls to Scottsdale CC on Sophomore Day

The South Mountain Community College men's soccer team (1-9-1, 1-7-1 ACCAC) lost 4-1 to Scottsdale CC on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the SMCC Soccer Field. Freshman Josh Marin scored his second goal of the season in the second half to pull the Cougars within 2-1, but the Fighting Artichokes responded with two more goals to seal the victory. Before the match, the Cougars honored their sophomores participating in their final home match. 

Less than 90 seconds into the second half, Marin took a feed from Kevin Urias and buried a shot into the netting. The goal was Marin's second of the season, and Urias picked up his first assist. Marin finished the match with three shots, putting two on the frame. 

SMCC finished with 13 shots and five corner kicks in the match. 

Freshman Brandon Soto also had three shots and placed one on goal, and sophomore Marco Amador had two shots in the game. Amador, Kevin TejadaAnthony Flores and Fernando Garcia received yellow cards in the match.
