SMCC Women's Basketball Battles with Southern Nevada

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team (0-2) lost 106-40 to Southern Nevada in a non-conference contest at the SMCC Gym on Nov. 16. Freshman Mimi Miller led the Cougars with 10 points and seven rebounds, and sophomore Miriam Traore added eight points, six rebounds and two blocks in defeat. 

SMCC trailed 56-25 at halftime and fell 50-15 in the second half. The Cougars shot 27.5 percent (14-of-51) from the field and grabbed 41 rebounds, including 11 on the offensive glass. They also finished with eight assists, 10 steals and three blocks. 

Miller was 4-of-9 from the field and grabbed seven defensive rebounds. She added an assist, two steals and a block in 25 minutes. Traore was 3-of-4 from the field and five defensive rebounds, one offensive rebound, and one assist. 

Freshman Chloe Wiley posted seven points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal in 19 minutes, and freshman Ashya Russell came off the bench to finish with seven points, three rebounds, one steal and one assist. Sophomore Daziane Stevenson had three points and six rebounds in 18 minutes.
