Trio of SMCC Women's Golfers Qualify for NJCAA Southwest District Championships

Three members of the South Mountain Community College women's golf team have qualified for the 2024 NJCAA Southwest District Championships in Texas. At the Lady Coyote Invite on April 14-15 at Las Colinas Golf Course in Queen Creek, Ariz., freshman Kasey Reichard placed fourth at 12-over 154, sophomore Angelina Borg-Malec was fifth at 13-over 155, and freshman Lili Stutz was 10th at 24-over 166 as all three qualified for the upcoming tournament.
Cougar Women's Golf Hosts South Mountain Invitational

The South Mountain Community College women's golf team hosted the South Mountain Invitational at Cave Creek Golf Course April 2-3 in Phoenix, Ariz. Sophomore Angelina Borg-Malec placed second at 9-over 153 while freshman Kasey Reichard was sixth at 18-over 162. As a team, SMCC finished third at 183-over, 759.
SMCC Women's Golf Competes in Estrella CC Mountain Classic

The South Mountian Community College women's golf team competed in the Estrella CC Mountain Invite Mar. 10-11 at Sundance Golf Course in Buckeye, Ariz. Sophomore Angelina Borg-Malec led SMCC with a third-place finish at 13-over, 157 while freshman Kasey Reichard placed sixth at 27-over, 171 and freshman Lili Stutz was 11th at 39-over, 171.
Angelina Borg-Malec Wins Paradise Valley Classic

Sophomore Angelina Borg-Malec carded an 11-over 151 to win individual medalist honors at the Paradise Valley Classic on Feb. 25-26 at Encanto Golf Course in Phoenix. Borg-Malec won the event by seven strokes over rivals from Mesa CC and Paradise Valley CC, and freshmen Lili Stutz and Kasey Reichard recorded top-10 finishes.
Angelina Borg-Malec Takes Fourth at Lady Thunderbird Classic

Sophomore Angelina Borg-Malec placed fourth at 16-over 160 at the season-opening Lady Thunderbird Classic at Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz.. on Feb. 13-14. Freshman Kasey Reichard posted a 27-over 171 and fellow freshman Lili Stutz finished at 28-over 172 over the 36 holes of the event.
Sharpened Mental Game Leads to Success for SMCC's Angelina Borg-Malec

Golf legend Arnold Palmer once said, “Success in this game depends less on strength of body than strength of mind and character.” The adage seems to apply to Angelina Borg-Malec, a South Mountain Community College women’s golf team sophomore. An improved mental game and preparation paid off in four fall 2023 tournament victories and positions her for a successful 2024 spring season.
Angelina Borg-Malec Wins Individual Medalist at Mesa Invitational

Sophomore Angelina Borg-Malec won the 27-hole Mesa Invitational at Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz., on Nov. 6-7. Borg-Malec finished at +6 (114) and posted a two-over 74 over her final 18 holes to defeat her nearest rival by five strokes. She has now won four fall tournaments after earning First Team All-ACCAC, All-Region I and All-Southwest District honors, and tying for 44th at the 2023 NJCAA National Championships at +40 (328).
Angelina Borg-Malec Claims Chandler-Gilbert Invitational Individual Medalist Honors

Sophomore Angelina Borg-Malec won the one day, 36-hole Chandler-Gilbert Invitational at Los Colinas Golf Club in Queen Creek, Ariz., on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The French sophomore carded a score of +10 (152) to edge an opponent from Chandler-Gilbert CC by one stroke. Freshman Kasey Reichard took fourth at +17 (159) and freshman Lili Stutz placed eighth at +27 (169).
Angelina Borg-Malec Captures Tucson Invitational Title

Sophomore Angelina Borg-Malec won the Tucson Invitational with a score of +5 (75) on Monday, Oct. 23 at Silvebell Golf Course in Tucson and hosted by Pima CC. Playing in a single-day event, Borg-Malec bested opponents from Chandler-Gilbert CC, Mesa CC, and Pima CC. Freshman Kasey Reichard finished at +12 (82) and fellow rookie Lili Stutz carded a +18 (88).
Angelina Borg-Malec Wins Aguila Classic Title

Sophomore Angelina Borg-Malec won the Aguila Classic at +15 (159) on Sept. 12-13 at Aguila Golf Course in Laveen, Ariz. Borg-Malec won by one stroke over a rival from Chandler-Gilbert CC, while freshmen Lili Stutz and Kasey Reichard turned in impressive performances in their Cougar debuts.
