Angelina Borg-Malec Wins Paradise Valley Classic

Sophomore Angelina Borg-Malec carded an 11-over 151 to win individual medalist honors at the Paradise Valley Classic on Feb. 25-26 at Encanto Golf Course in Phoenix. Borg-Malec won the event by seven strokes over rivals from Mesa CC and Paradise Valley CC, and freshmen Lili Stutz and Kasey Reichard recorded top-10 finishes.
Having won four times in the 2023 fall, Borg-Malec won her first spring tournament with a pair of solid rounds. She opened with a five-over 75 and closed with a six-over 76 to win by seven strokes. She earned All-ACCAC, All-Region and All-District honors last spring as she played at the NJCAA National Championships.
Stutz moved up two spots on the leaderboard in her second round after posting a 17-over 87 to finish at 32-over 172. Reichard was 10th at 36-over 176 and moved up one spot after a second round 20-over 90.
Sophomore Kayla Pettet, who also plays for the SMCC women's basketball team, has joined the program to help the Cougars compete as a team for the spring season. She finished 19th at the event.
