Bio

Angela Calicchio joined the South Mountain Community College athletic department as head athletic trainer in August 2021. A former assistant athletic trainer and graduate assistant at Southern Utah University, Calicchio returns to intercollegiate athletic training with the Cougars. 

Most recently, Calicchio spent two years as the head athletic trainer at Woodinville High School in conjunction with Seattle Children’s Hospital in Washington. She provided athletic training services for practices and home events for 25 sports, and also managed injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and concussion protocols.

Prior to her stint in Washington, Calicchio spent seven years as an assistant athletic trainer and certified athletic trainer for the Southern Utah Thunderbirds in Cedar City, Utah. She worked with SUU women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s volleyball, women’s basketball and softball, and served as a preceptor for the SUU Undergraduate Athletic Training Program.

She also spent three years as an insurance coordinator at SUU and was a graduate assistant for two years at the school.

She is a member the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, holds a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer certification, and is a licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Arizona.

Calicchio graduated from Southern Utah in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training and Exercise Science. She then received her Master’s of Science in Sports Conditioning and Performance from SUU in 2016.
