A 6-6 wing from Okinawa, Japan, Thor Hawkins joins the SMCC men's basketball team as a redshirt freshman for the 2025-26 season. Hawkins prepped at Learning Foundation & Performing Arts in Gilbert, Ariz., where he averaged 6.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game as a senior. He scored a season-high 13 points in a win over East Valley Athlete for Christ, and had 12 rebounds in wins over EVAC and Ajo. Hawkins and the Cougars officially open the 2025-26 season on Friday, Oct. 31 against Arizona Christian University (JV) at 2 p.m. at Phoenix College.
