SMCC Women's Golf Takes Second at Lady Thunderbird Invitational

The South Mountain Community College women's golf team placed second at the season-opening Lady Thunderbird Invitational at Dobson Ranch Golf Course on Feb. 2-3. Freshman Kylie Rehberger led the Cougars with a second-place finish at +8 (152), while the Cougars finished at +127 (703).

Rehberger opened with a 77 and improved by two strokes in her second round to finish at eight-over, 152. Freshman Trixie Sabulao tied for 13th overall at 33-over, 177, posting a five-shot improvement in her second round.

Sophomores Tabitha Bitter and Jenna Lee tied for 16th at the event at 43-over, 187. Bitter improved by seven shots in her second round while Lee posted a pair of consistent rounds.

Sophomore Alyssa Miner took 22nd at 56-over, 200 and posted a two-shot improvement in her second round. Freshman Aria Baker placed 27th at 87-over, 231 and improved by three strokes over her final 18 holes.

The Cougars improved by 13 strokes in the second round and edged Pima CC by nine for second place.
