SMCC Women's Golf Places Second at PV Invitational; Qualifies for NJCAA District Championships

The South Mountain Community College women's golf team placed second at the Paradise Valley Invitational on April 11-12 at Wildfire Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. The Cougars opened with a 354 and then posted a 362 in the second round to finish at 106-over, 716. Individually, Kylie Rehberger finished second overall with a 12-over, 156 after an opening round of two-over, 74. 

Rehberger carded a second-round score of 10-over, 82, to post her third second-place finish of the spring. She finished with a two-stroke advantage over third-place Maria Harrouch from Pima CC. Rehberger also was second at the Lady Thunderbird Invitational (Feb. 2-3) and the South Mountain Invitational (Feb. 19-20). 

Trixie Sabulao tied for 11th at 31-over, 175, posting scores of 90 and 85 at the event. Tabitha Bitter was 16th at 50-over, 194 with scores of 91 and 103, and Emma Fisher tied for 17th at 52-over, 196 with rounds of 99 and 97. 

Gina Benoche and Alyssa Miner tied for 19th at 55-over, 199. Benoche posted rounds of 101 and 98, while Miner carded scores of 100 and 99.  

The Cougars now set their sights on the NJCAA District Championships, which run April 17-19 at Hawk Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village, Tex. SMCC will compete against the district's best to advance to the NJCAA National Championships, May 9-12 at Timacuan Country Club in Lake Mary, Fla.
