Cougar Women's Golf Turns In Impressive Performances NJCAA District Championships

The South Mountain Community College women's golf team placed eighth at the 2022 NJCAA Southwest District Championships April 18-19 at Hawks Creek Golf Club in Westworth Village, Texas. The Cougars finished the three rounds at 223-over, 1087. Individually, freshman Kylie Rehberger led SMCC and earned All-District honors with an eighth-place finish at nine-over, 239. 

One of three ACCAC teams competing at the event, the Cougars posted rounds of 356, 358 and 373 to take eighth. Western Texas CC won the event at 85-over, 949. 

On the par-72 course, Rehberger carded rounds of 79, 79 and 81 to place eighth and edge a par of competitors who tied for ninth by one stroke. She earned First Team All-ACCAC and All-Region honors earlier this season for her work throughout the season. She will learn on April 27 if she earns an at-large berth to the NJCAA National Championships. 

Freshman Trixie Sabulao placed 34th at 57-over, 273 with rounds of 92, 88 and 93, and sophomore Tabitha Bitter was 36th at 63-over, 279 with scores of 88, 91 and 100. 

Sophomores Jenna Lee and Emma Fisher finished 44th and 45th, respectively. Lee posted rounds of 99, 100 and 100, while Fisher finished at 97, 109 and 99.
