SMCC Women's Golf Finishes Second at Mesa Thunderbird Invitational

The South Mountain Community College women's golf team finished second at the Mesa Thunderbird at 65-over 641 on Feb. 14-15 at Dobson Ranch Golf Course. The Cougars posted a three-shot improvement in their second round, and sophomore Kylie Rehberger placed second at three over 147.

SMCC posted team scores of 322 and 319 on the par-72 course. The Cougars finished 17 strokes behind Mesa CC, which won the event at 48-over 624. 

Rehberger carded rounds of 75 and 72 (three-over 147) at the tournament, finishing one shot behind Pima CC's Maria Harrouch for individual medalist honors. She won the Pima Women's Invite earlier this spring and earned 2022 All-District, All-Region and All-Conference honors. 

Freshman Angelina Borg-Malec moved up three spots on the final leaderboard with a second-round score of 78, a six-shot improvement from an opening round 84. She finished at 18-over 162 to place seventh. 

Freshman Raquel Pargas took 11th at 22-over 166 with scores of 84 and 82, freshman Mia Hill was 12th at 23-over 167 with rounds of 80 and 87, and sophomore Trixie Sabulao was 13th at 26-over 170 with scores of 83 and 87.
