Cougar Men's Golf Captures PVCC Invitational Title

The South Mountain Community College men's golf team won the Paradise Valley Puma Spring Invitational at -5 (555) on Feb. 25-26 at the Encanto Golf Course in Phoenix, Ariz. Individually, freshman Dylan Kohner led SMCC by tying for second at -2 (138) and sophomores Brady Clark and Cole Finch tied for fourth at -1 (139).
SMCC opened with a one-under 279 and posted a four-under 276 in its second round to defeat second-place Eastern Arizona by 10 strokes.
Kohner opened with a four-under 66 and then carded a two-over 72 in his second round to finish two strokes off the pace of the tournament winner, Pima CC's Casen Wright.
Clark rebounded from a two-over 72 over his first 18 holes to post a three-under 67 in the second round and move up seven spots on the leaderboard at one-under 139. Finch moved up four places in his second round after carding a two-under 68 one day after finishing at one-over 71 on day one.
Freshman Dillon Dean also had a solid second round, scoring a one-under 69 to move up five spots and finish in a tie for ninth. He opened with a three-over 73.
Sophomore Ryan Blair tied for 12th at three-over with rounds of even-par 70 and three-over 73. Sophomore Luke Greig tied for 18th at six-over with scores of 74 and 72.
