SMCC Volleyball Completes Comeback over Park University-Gilbert

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team defeated Park University-Gilbert 3-2 in a non-conference home contest on Oct. 28.  The Cougars overcame an early 2-0 deficit to win the final three sets and post a victory over the Buccaneers.

After hitting a combined .085 through the first two sets, the Cougars roared back to life in the third set with 15 kills to win 28-26. In set four, SMCC hit .424, recording 17 kills on 33 attacks. The fifth set saw the Cougars record seven kills on 13 swings to post a .385 hitting percentage. 

Freshman Alyssa McDowell had sensational game, hitting .700 with 15 kills on 20 swings. She added two digs sand six block assists.

Sophomore Kaley Hosler led SMCC with 17 kills. She added eight digs and two block assists in the win. Freshman Mackenzie Cumbie had a team-high 42 assists while freshman Marlayna Stapleton had a team-high 20 digs. Mikaila Williams recorded 13 digs in the win.
