Cougars Wrap Up 2021 with 3-1 Victory over Phoenix College

The South Mountain Community College women's volleyball team (5-22, 2-13 ACCAC) defeated Phoenix College 3-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 27 in the Cougars' final match of the 2021 season. Freshman Maleah Reynolds led all players with 14 kills and freshman Maddie Marcotte finished with 26 assists and 14 digs. 

The Cougars hit. 146 for the match, collecting 40 kills and 15 errors in 171 attacks. SMCC added 30 assists, five service aces and 85 digs. SMCC hit .238 with 13 kills on 42 swings in the fourth set to clinch the victory. 

Reynolds hit .125 in the match, totaling 14 kills and six errors on 64 swings. She added 14 digs to finish with her fourth-straight double-double and eighth of the season. 

Freshman Leilani Clark finished second on the team with nine kills, hitting .360 with zero errors on 25 swings. She also had a pair of digs. Fellow freshman Jalyssa Rogers added seven kills and hit .333 on 18 swings. 

Marcotte had a well-rounded performance, adding four kills on a perfect hitting percentage to her team-high 26 assists. She also recorded 14 digs. Sophomore Nikole Lunsford led SMCC with 22 digs and added two assists and two service aces.
