Lane Harvey joined the South Mountain Community College Baseball program as an assistant coach in August 2023. Harvey will work with the Cougar infielders and hitters and handle other administrative duties as assigned. He also works closely with the SMCC Facilities Department to maintain the SMCC Baseball, Softball, and Soccer Fields.

Before his time at SMCC, Havey spent four seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Washburn University in Topeka, Kan., serving as the infield coach and bench coach. He also ran the baseball strength & conditioning program as well as assisted with hitting and recruiting for the Ichabods.

Havey has also spent the last two summers being the head coach of the Florence Flamingos (SC) in the Coastal Plain League (CPL) and in total he has spent the last four summers in the CPL.

In 2020, Harvey spent the summer as an assistant coach for the Macon (GA) Bacon who won the Southern Summer Ball Series Championship over the Savannah Bananas. In 2021, he worked for fellow Cougar assistant coach, Kevin Soine, with the Holly Springs (NC) Salamanders as their hitting coach. In Holly Springs, Harvey helped lead the Salamanders to the first winning season in franchise history and finished third in the league in home runs.

In 2022, in his first season as a head coach, Harvey had one player make the CPL all-star game and one player selected to the all-league team. Currently one player from that 2022 team is playing professionally. The following summer, Harvey had three of his players make the all-star game, as well as earn all-league honors. Over his four years in the CPL Harvey has had the chance to work with more than 20 players who are currently in professional baseball.

In 2019, Harvey started all 46 games at third base for the Ichabods and received an all-MIAA honorable mention nod with a .287 batting average, scoring 29 runs and knocking in 30. He finished the season among offensive team leaders in doubles (t-1st), OBP (2nd), RBI (2nd), walks (2nd), at-bats (3rd), runs (4th) and hits (t-4th). Against Missouri Southern on March 9, 2019, he tied a program single-game record with three doubles.

Harvey played his junior season at NCAA Division I school Morehead State, where he was a member of the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament champions and appeared in the Clemson Regional of the NCAA World Series. He played 13 games for the Eagles, registering five runs and three hits in 21 at-bats.

Before MSU, Havey played two seasons for Indian Hills CC (Ottumwa, Iowa). He appeared in 104 of 115 games and helped the Falcons amass a 64-51 record during his stint. He batted .291 for his career with 57 runs, 52 RBIs, and 46 walks. As a sophomore, he helped the Falcons to a 41-20 record and an NJCAA Region XI title, earning All-ICCAC Second Team honors.

Harvey graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Washburn in 2020. He later received his Master's Degree in Communication and Leadership at Washburn in 2022.
