SMCC Men's Golf, Jorge Parada Win Chandler-Gilbert CC Spring Tournament

The South Mountain Community College men's golf team won the Chandler-Gilbert CC ACCAC Spring Tournament with a score of -4 (572) at Toka Sticks Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz., on April 2-3. The Cougars posted scores of four-over 292 and eight-under 280 to defeat second-place Chandler-Gilbert CC by 11 strokes. Individually, sophomore Jorge Parada won individual medalist honors with a final score of -7 (137) to edge CGCC's Jose Carlos Licon by two strokes. Freshman Jack Taylor tied for fifth at +1 (145), freshman Jaxson Wright was seventh at +2 (146), and freshmen Luke Padilla and Adam Croix tied for eighth at +3 (147).
SMCC Men's Golf Wins Home Tournament at -41, Croix Takes Individual Honors

The South Mountain Community College men's golf team won the South Mountain ACCAC Spring Tournament at -41 (535) at Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz., over Mar. 24-25. The Cougars posted rounds of 17-under 271 and 24-under 264 to defeat second-place Mesa CC by 27 strokes. Individually, Adam Croix won for the third time this spring by finishing at -13 (131) to edge teammate and sophomore Jorge Parada by two strokes. Freshmen Jaxson Wright and Jack Taylor tied for third at -8 (136), and freshman PJ Segerstrom tied for seventh at -4 (140).
SMCC Men's Golf Places Third at TankLogix & Tall City Exploration Collegiate

Competing against some of the top NJCAA Division I programs in the nation, the South Mountain Community College men's golf team placed third at +13 (865) at the TankLogix & Tall City Exploration Collegiate on Mar. 17-18 at the Quicksand Golf Course in San Angelo, Texas. Individually, sophomore Jorge Parada finished as runner-up at -6 (207), and freshman Adam Croix tied for seventh at +1 (214) on the par-71 course.
Adam Croix and SMCC Men's Golf Win Glendale CC ACCAC Spring Tournament

Freshman Adam Croix edged teammate freshman Jack Taylor on a scorecard playoff for individual medalist honors at the Glendale CC ACCAC Spring Tournament on March 10-11 at Union Hills Golf Course in Sun City, Ariz. Both Taylor and Croix finished at -4 (140) over the two days on the par-72 course, with Croix prevailing because of his second-round score of two-under 70. Sophomore Jorge Parada and freshman Luke Padilla tied for third at -3 (141), and freshman PJ Segerstrom was fifth at -2 (142), giving SMCC the top five finishers at the event. That individual dominance carried over to the team scores, where SMCC finished at -17 (559) to defeat second-place Mesa CC by 39 strokes.
SMCC Men's Golf, Adam Croix Win Estrella Mountain Spring Tournament

Freshman Adam Croix finished at +2 (146) to win individual medalist honors, and the SMCC men's team claimed the team title at +23 (599) at the Estrella Mountain Spring Tournament at Sundance Golf Course in Buckeye, Ariz., on Feb. 24-25. Croix carded identical rounds of one-over 73 to edge teammate Jorge Parada and Chandler-Gilbert CC's Chris Xiao by two strokes for the tournament title. As a team, the Cougars led by nine after one round and held off a second-round charge by CGCC to win the event by four strokes.
SMCC Men's Golf Captures Paradise Valley CC Spring Tournament

The South Mountain Community College men's golf team won the Paradise Valley CC Invitational at +11 (571) and had five Cougars finish in the top 10 at Encanto Golf Course on Feb. 11-12, 2025. Leading by two strokes after the first round, SMCC carded a six-under 274 to win the event by 27 strokes. Individually, sophomore Jorge Parada placed second at +3 (143), freshmen Adam Croix, PJ Segerstrom, and Jaxson Wright tied for third at +5 (145), and freshman Jack Taylor tied for eighth at +9 (149) to lead the Cougars.
SMCC Men's Golf Places Second at Gila Monster's Spring ACCAC Tournament

The South Mountain Community College men's golf team placed second at +1 (577) at the Gila Monster's Spring ACCAC Tournament hosted by Eastern Arizona at Mt. Graham Golf Course in Safford, Ariz. on Jan. 27-28. Individually, sophomore Jorge Parada and freshman Jack Taylor tied for third at -1 (143) to lead the Cougars, and freshman Adam Croix scored a top-five finish and took fifth at +1 (145).
SMCC Men's Golf Wins Thunderbird Fall Classic

Sophomore Jorge Parada won a tiebreaker over teammate freshman Randy Weis to claim individual medalist honors at the Thunderbird Fall Classic at Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz., on Nov. 5-6. Parada and Weis finished at -9 (135) and matched identical scores of four-under 68 and five-under 67, but Parada ultimately prevailed in a scorecard playoff. As a team, SMCC won the event with a team score of -15 (561), 16 strokes better than second-place Eastern Arizona, with Kenny Taylor, Luke Padilla, Jaxson Wright, and Adam Croix posting top-10 finishes.
SMCC Men's Golf Ties for Sixth At Herb Wimberly Invitational

The South Mountain Community College men's golf team tied for sixth at +14 (866) at the Herb Wimberly Memorial at the NM State Golf Course on Oct. 14-15 in Las Cruces, N.M. The Cougars moved up five spots on the leaderboard over the final 18 holes with a team score of -6 (278), the second-best round of the day and the best round by any team except for host and tournament winner New Mexico State. Individually, sophomore Jorge Parada led the charge in round three for SMCC with a two-under 69 to move up 16 spots on the leaderboard and tie for 16th at the event.
SMCC Men's Golf, Jorge Parada Capture PVCC Fall Invitational Titles

The South Mountain Community College men's golf team won the PVCC Fall Invitational with a score of -4 (556) over two rounds at the Encanto Golf Course in Phoenix from Oct. 7-8. Sophomore Jorge Parada claimed individual medalist honors at -7 (133) with rounds of 67 and 66 on the par-70 course, and sophomore Adam Croix moved up three spots on the final leaderboard with a second-round 68 to tie for third place.
Jorge Parada Leads SMCC Men's Golf with Second Place Finish at ENMU-Ruidoso High Country Shootout

Jorge Parada of the SMCC men's golf team tied for first at the ENMU-Ruidoso High Country Shootout at -18 (198) from Sept. 22-23 at The Links at Sierra Blanca in Ruidoso, N.M., to help lead the Cougars to a sixth-place team finish. Facing a group of NJCAA Division I opponents, including defending National Champion New Mexico Junior College, the Cougars were 22-under (842) with Kenny Taylor, James Rogers, and Jaxson Wright all finishing under par over the three rounds.
SMCC Men's Golf Opens Fall Season at Papago Invitational

The South Mountain Community College men's golf team opened its 2024 fall season at the Papago Invitational hosted by Arizona State University at Papago Golf Club on Sept. 16-17. The Cougars fared well, with Randy Weis, Adam Croix, and Jaxson Wright tying for 19th at 10-over, 223 over 54 holes as SMCC faced NCAA Division I competition.
