Davis Heller Earns ACCAC Player of the Week Honors
Davis Heller of the South Mountain Community College baseball team received Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Division I Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday. A freshman first baseman, Heller hit .500 (7 for 14) with four RBIs, two doubles, two runs and a stolen base as SMCC went 4-0 in games against Paradise Valley CC and Chandler-Gilbert CC.
Heller has been an offensive force for the Cougars since returning from injury. The 6-8 rookie went 2 for 4 with two RBIs in the first game against the Pumas and then followed that up with a 3 for 5 performance with a double and an RBI the next day.
Against the Coyotes, Heller had a hit in both victories, including his sixth double of the year. In 12 games this season, Heller owns a .513 batting average with 11 RBIs and nine runs. He sports a .604 on-base percentage and .667 slugging percentage in 48 plate appearances.
Earlier this season, Heller had a career-high four hits, two doubles and five RBIs in a contest against Pima Community College on Feb 18.
