Scottsdale CC Defeats SMCC Men's Basketball

The South Mountain Community College men's basketball team lost 78-55 to Scottsdale CC in an ACCAC home game on Jan. 18. Sophomores Darien Allen and Khabri Davis led SMCC 12 points, but the Artichokes used a late rally in the first half to propel them to the victory. 

The Artichokes le 34-21 after 20 minutes and won the second half 44-34. SMCC finished at 38.3 percent shooting (23-of-60) from the field and had 20 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals in defeat. 

Allen was 6-of-11 from the field and added two rebounds and an assist, and Davis was also 6-of-11 with a rebound and an assist in 19 minutes off the bench. 

Freshman Jaylen Wesley had 11 points, four rebounds and four steals in 25 minutes, and freshman Jimmy Causey Jr. added four points, four rebounds and an assist. Sophomore Shamar Grant came off the bench to finish with nine points, two assists, a steal and a rebound.
