
Adam Croix and SMCC Men's Golf Win Glendale CC ACCAC Spring Tournament

Freshman Adam Croix edged teammate freshman Jack Taylor on a scorecard playoff for individual medalist honors at the Glendale CC ACCAC Spring Tournament on March 10-11 at Union Hills Golf Course in Sun City, Ariz. Both Taylor and Croix finished at -4 (140) over the two days on the par-72 course, with Croix prevailing because of his second-round score of two-under 70. Sophomore Jorge Parada and freshman Luke Padilla tied for third at -3 (141), and freshman PJ Segerstrom was fifth at -2 (142), giving SMCC the top five finishers at the event. That individual dominance carried over to the team scores, where SMCC finished at -17 (559) to defeat second-place Mesa CC by 39 strokes.
Croix carded two rounds of two-under 70 with four birdies in his opening round and another four in his second, plus an eagle three on the par-five No. 4. Taylor opened with a three-under 69 with five birdies and added four in his second round to post a one-under 71.
Parada posted rounds of two-under 70 with four birdies and one-under 71 with five birdies. Padilla opened with five birdies en route to a two-under 70 and added two more in his second round to record a one-under 71.
Segerstrom moved up five spots on the final leaderboard with a four-under 68 in his second round thanks to two birdies and an eagle three on the par-five No. 10. He opened with a two-over 74 with two birdies.
Sophomore Basil Strolz competed as an individual and finished at +9 (153) to tie for 14th. He had one birdie in his first round to card a three-over 75 and added three birdies in his second round to post a six-over 78.
The Cougars opened at nine-under 279 and closed with an eight-under 280 to post the team victory.
