Bio

Taylor Roberts was named an assistant coach for the SMCC Softball team in October 2023. A standout pitcher and California native, Roberts will work with the Cougar pitching staff and catchers and handle other administrative responsibilities.

Roberts prepped at Paraclete High School in Lancaster, Calif., where she helped lead her team to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Championships as a junior and senior. Playing for Margret Neill, the winningest softball coach in CIF history, Roberts was named the 2016 CIF-Southern Section Player of the Year and earned All-American honors.

After her time at Paraclete HS, Roberts spent the 2018 season at Antelope Valley College and earned First Team All-CCCAA and Western State Conference Pitcher of the Year honors while leading the league in home runs and RBIs.

In 2019, Roberts attended Marymount College, receiving CalPac Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Cal Pac honors while helping lead the team to its first CalPac Championship in the program's history.

Coming to Arizona after the coronavirus pandemic canceled the 2020 season, Roberts began her coaching career by working with Rijo Athletics and the Arizona Hotshots Softball organization.

With a year of eligibility left, Roberts jumped at the opportunity to play for Arizona Christian University in 2021. She finished the year 5-6 with a 3.40 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 70 innings. She stuck around in 2022 to serve as a graduate assistant for the program.

Roberts teaches 8th-grade math and coaches volleyball at Pat Tillman Middle School.
