SMCC Softball Falls Twice to Yavapai College

The South Mountain Community College softball team (4-4, 4-2 ACCAC) lost an Arizona Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader to Yavapai College 17-0 and 22-6 on Mar. 9. 

Game One

The Roughriders scored multiple runs in four of the five innings to post the win. 

For SMCC, Christian Smith, Destiny Apodaca and Taylor Mount all had hits and Apodaca had her third double of the year.  

Jackie Traugher took the loss for the Cougars in the circle. 

Game Two 

Yavapai scored 12 runs in the second inning and held off the Cougar offense to sweep the doubleheader. 

Alexa Key, Tori Van Arsdale, Tatumn Ellis and Mount all had two hits for SMCC. Tara Lorona and Apodaca had a double, and Key, Apodaca, Mount, Ellis and Mia Stankiewicz all had stolen bases. 

Key, Stankiewicz, Van Arsdale, Apodaca, Mount and Ellis all recorded RBIs. 

Smith took the loss in the circle for the Cougars. 

SMCC softball returns to action on Mar. 16 with a doubleheader at Scottsdale CC. The games were originally scheduled for Mar. 13, but were postponed due to inclement weather.
