SMCC Women's Basketball Defeats Community Christian College

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team defeated Community Christian 116-20 in a non-conference contest at the SMCC Gym on Dec. 13. Freshman Destiny Dixon scored a season-high 28 points, and five other Cougars finished in double-figures as SMCC defeated the Saints. 

The Cougars held a 67-6 at halftime and won the second half 49-14. SMCC shot 55.3 percent (52 of 94) from the field, totaling 73 rebounds, 32 assists, 15 steals, and two blocks in the victory. 

Dixon finished 11 of 18 from the field and connected on three 3-pointers in 23 minutes. She added four rebounds, two assists, and one steal. 

Sophomore Nei'Shae Clegg posted a double-double with 10 points and a team-high 15 rebounds in 36 minutes. She added two steals and an assist in the victory. 

Sophomore Mualyia Green also had a double-double, compiling 18 points and 13 rebounds in 14 minutes. She added three assists and three steals. 

Sophomore Auak Jok had the team's third double-double, recording 19 points and 10 rebounds in 20 minutes. She added three assists and a steal. 

Sophomore Rahimeh Salaam had 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals, and freshman Sadie Gardner had 10 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in 25 minutes off the bench. 

The Cougars won the Dec. 14 game against CCC by forfeit.
