The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team (3-7, 0-3 ACCAC) lost 90-27 in an ACCAC game at Pima CC on Dec. 4. Sophomore Leslie Aguirre led SMCC with 11 points and sophomore Mualyia Green grabbed 10 rebounds, but the Aztecs led early and pulled away in the second half for the win.
SMCC trailed 24-6 after the first quarter and 42-16 at halftime. The Aztecs won the second half 48-11, and the Cougars finished with 33 rebounds, three assists, and five steals.
Aguirre was 5 of 11 from the field and added a rebound in 18 minutes. Green had four points in addition to her 10 boards in 32 minutes.
Freshman DeeDee Medlock had five points, including a 3-pointer, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 24 minutes off the bench. Sophomore Rahimeh Salaam had two points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 23 minutes as a reserve.
