SMCC Men's Soccer Opens Season at No. 8 Pima CC

The South Mountain Community College men's soccer team (0-1-0) lost 9-0 to No. 8 Pima CC on Saturday, Aug. 26 in Tucson. Freshman Anthony Sauceda made four saves in net for SMCC, which is starting its second season under head coach Pedro Mendoza. 

Pima CC scored six goals in the first half and three in the second to claim the non-conference victory. Freshman Brandon Soto had three shots for SMCC, and sophomore Kevin Tejada and freshman Alfonso Maldonado each had one. 

SMCC returns to action on Tuesday, Aug. 29, with a road match at Glendale CC. Kick-off between the Cougars and Gauchos is set for 8 p.m.
