The South Mountain Community College men's soccer team (2-12-2) wrapped up its 2024 campaign with a 4-0 loss to Scottsdale CC on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the SMCC Soccer Field. Freshman Aaron Vazquez led the charge offensively for SMCC, finishing with three shots and putting two on the frame. In goal, freshman Manuel Lopez made a pair of saves.
Freshmen Angel Velazquez and Kris Valenzuela had the other shots on goal for SMCC, and fellow rookie Kenneth Osuna had one attempt outside the frame.
Lopez made two stops in the first half and ended the year with 111 saves, a 3.18 goals-against-average, and a .718 save percentage in more than 1,246 minutes in goal for the Cougars.
Freshman Jhoan Soto led SMCC with six goals and 15 points and added three assists on the season. Freshman Oscar Jimenez led SMCC with four assists and added three goals for 10 points. Sophomore Josh Marin had three goals and two assists, Vazquez posted three goals, and Osuna, Mauricio Guerrero, Kevin Urias, and Valenzuela all had four points.
