Cougar Women's Hoops Downs Park-Gilbert (JV) 77-60


The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team defeated Park-Gilbert (JV) 77-60 in a non-conference game on Nov. 14 at the SMCC Gym. Sophomore Genesis Adams led the Cougars with 19 points and eight rebounds, and fellow sophomores Myla Lee and Andrea Willeto each added 12 points in the victory. 

As a team, SMCC shot 47.5 percent (29-of-61) from the field and 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars grabbed 45 rebounds, dished out 18 assists and recorded 17 steals. 

Adams finished 8-of-11 from the field and grabbed two of her eight rebounds on the offensive glass. She also led SMCC with three blocked shots in the victory. 

Lee was 4-of-6 from the field and a perfect 2-for-2 from 3-point range. She added three rebounds, two assists, three steals and a block. 

Willeto came off the bench to finish 5-of-7 from the field and a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line. She added seven rebounds, two assists and three steals. 

Freshman Nyese Jones finished with six points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals, and sophomore Star Anderson scored nine points with five rebounds, three assists and three steals. 

Freshman Daziane Stevenson posted nine points, three rebounds, two steals and an assist, and freshman Jolie King had five points, three assists and two steals off the bench.
