The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team lost 73-44 to Arizona Western in an ACCAC home contest on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Freshman Chloe Wiley came off the bench to lead SMCC with 13 points, while fellow freshmen Mimi Miller and Janae Byrd each finished with nine.
Wiley connected on three 3-pointers to match her season high and added four steals, one rebound, and one assist in 36 minutes. Byrd made four field goals and added four rebounds, four assists, and five steals in 40 minutes. Byrd has registered six games with at least three steals this season.
Miller posted three rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 30 minutes to go with her nine points. Sophomore Miriam Traore finished with six points and two rebounds, and sophomore Hailey Connor had four points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 38 minutes.
