SMCC Women's Basketball Rolls to Victory over Justice College

The South Mountain Community College women's basketball team defeated Justice College 109-30 in a non-conference game at the SMCC Gym on Nov. 16. Sophomore Genesis Adams led SMCC with 29 points and 18 rebounds, and sophomore Andrea Willeto added 21 points. Sophomores Myla Lee and freshman Nyese Jones finished in double-figures as the Cougars led wire-to-wire in the victory. 

The Cougars led 56-15 at halftime and 80-15 after the third quarter. SMCC shot 38.4 percent (43-of-112) from the field and 24.1 percent (7-of-29) from the 3-point line. The Cougars grabbed 70 rebounds, including 36 on the offensive glass, dished out 20 assists and recorded 24 steals. 

Adams finished 11-of-20 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Eleven of her 19 rebounds came on the offensive end, and she added one assist, steal and block. 

Willeto was 8-of-16 from the field and knocked down a team-best four 3-pointers. She posted nine rebounds, two assists and three steals. Lee went 8-of-15 from the field and hit all three free throws. She added a team-best seven assists, six rebounds and three steals.

Jones finished 6-of-15 from the field and connected on two 3-pointers, adding five rebounds, five steals and three assists. Sophomore Star Anderson finished with seven points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals.  

Sophomore Nyaker Aguek came off the bench to finish with eight points and five rebounds. Sophomore Daziane Stevenson added four points, six offensive rebounds, an assist and two steals in a reserve role.
